Surfing In Bude

Crooklets Beach is not only the beach closest to Surf Haven Bed & Breakfast, it’s also one of the best places to surf if you’re an experienced surfer. Conditions are particularly good in easterly winds in mid to high tide conditions.

The surf here is so good, it’s earned the nickname the ‘Bondi of Britain’. And, if you want to experience conditions that good, where better to stay than at Surf Haven, which is just a short walk away!

Bude’s west-facing coast means we get the best surf conditions in Cornwall, but it also means it can sometimes be too windy for some.  Summerleaze provides ideal conditions for beginnners at all times and you’ll find seasoned pros surfing here when it’s a bit too rough to surf elsewhere.

For those looking to learn to surf in Bude, there are several surf schools nearby who run their surf lessons at Summerleaze Beach, including Bude Surfing Experience and the Big Blue Surf School.

A short drive south from Bude brings you to Widemouth Bay – a mile and a half of surfer’s paradise.  Renowned for having the best waves in the area, it draws experienced surfers at high tide and has good conditions for beginners at other times.  Both Freewave Surf Academy and Raven Surf offer surfing lessons at Widemouth Bay.
