Bude Beaches

The closest of the Bude beaches to Surf Haven Bed & Breakfast, Crooklets Beach is an easy 300 yard walk from our front door.  Crooklets Beach is a sandy beach and has Wrangles Point to the north.  At low tide, you can walk along the beach to Summerleaze Beach, just to the south.

Behind the beach you’ll find a good selection of cafes and pubs, plus public toilets and beach huts.

The largest of the Bude beaches, Summerleaze Beach is a sandy beach sitting behind the breakwater.  Bude’s seapool sits to one side with Bude canal on the other. Beach huts sit on the cliff above the beach and the beach is served by a small cafe, public toilets and is an easy walk from the shops in the centre of Bude.

The wildest of the Bude beaches, Breakwater Beach sits on the seaward side of the breakwater, beyond the canal. Exposed to the Atlantic rollers in winter, the beach is rocky and pebbly, but still a great place to explore at low tide.

The view from the breakwater back towards the other Bude beaches is worth the walk alone.

For those that want to venture out of Bude itself, there are other beaches nearby that are well worth a visit.  The wide sweeping expanse of Widemouth Bay is lined with fabulous beaches, including Widemouth Beach and Black Rock, both of which are well served by cafes and shops.

To the north, a mixture of sandy stretches and rocky coves can be found at Northcott Mouth Beach, Sandy Mouth Beach and Duckpool Beach.  The latter is one of the most spectacular beaches near Bude – a real hidden gem.
